MATTHEW 10:30 – But the very hairs of your head are all numbered
This scripture illustrates just how much God loves us. He even knows the amount of hairs we have on our head. For those who are "hair challenged" (i.e., going bald), God even knows how many hairs you used to have or how many hairs you would like to have.
God is all–powerful and possesses all knowledge. He doesn’t have to take the time to count the hairs on your head; He knows this information more easily than you can tell daytime from nighttime. This verse of scripture demonstrates how much God cares about even the smallest, areas of our lives. I’ve never taken the opportunity to count the hairs on my head, nor am I familiar with anyone else that has.
I think one of the lessons we can learn from this scripture is if God knows things about us that are insignificant; we should make sure we know everything about ourselves that is within our ability to find out. This certainly should include being familiar with information about our health.
"Check yourself" to become familiar with your blood pressure, your blood sugar level, and if your family has a history of any significant illnesses. Have your eyes examined on a regular basis and go the dentist regularly before you are forced to go because of some "horrible tooth ache" or a major dental problem. "Check yourself" and make sure those constant headaches you’re experiencing are not just the result of stress or that pain in your chest is not just a "bad case of gas". Too often people are reluctant to check themselves because of what they might find wrong. The result of waiting to find out what’s wrong can be disastrous because it delays treating something that could have been taken care of long before it reached any dangerous level. Hosea 4:6 NRS states, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
To those men reading this article, please "check yourself" on your "journey to wellness" – get that prostate exam you’ve been dreading for so long or have your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels checked. To those ladies reading this article, "Check yourself" — that Pap smear or breast examination, and don’t forget to have your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels checked as well. Not knowing these things ignores Hosea 4:6 and leaves you poised for needless pain and suffering.
In Numbers 13:1,2 "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel" He instructed Moses to send out men "that they may search the land of Canaan." God sent them on this search so they could find out the necessary information they would need to possess this land. A medical test or doctors appointment may be God’s way of putting you in position to investigate the land (your body) that He’s given to you!
Blessings on your journey to wellness
