Just Keep Trusting
- Created on December 8th, 2005
You’ve just returned from your medical appointment and were encouraged by the comments from your doctor and your great test results. Your diabetes was under control, or your Blood pressure was normal. That lump in your breast turned out to be benign and that stiffness you were so concerned about turned out to be a result of lack of exercise while you were on that long needed vacation. You feel you can finally breathe a sigh of relief. I’ve been given a "clean bill of health. Thank God!
After I have followed all the medical advice, taken all the recommended test and medication and gotten opinions from the "experts", more frequently than I ever wanted. I always need to keep reminding myself that the most important thing I can do regardless of my medical condition is to, "just keep trusting God."
I’ve also left the doctor’s office feeling so low I needed t reach up "just to touch the ground", when the results of my medical exam and test were for lack of a better term, "absolutely dismal." I had to remind myself of the numerous times God brought me through every bad report I was forced to face "to just keep trusting God."
This attitude may seem like a cop out to some, but I find it to be very comforting after I’ve heard countless recommendations from doctors, specialist, health professionals and even family members and friends. Everybody has advice that can "help get you well" if you would just "do as they say". I once heard so much advice concerning the condition I thought being "deaf" would be a welcome relief. I wanted everyone around me to just "go away" or at least just shut up. (By the way, nothing is too hard for the person that doesn’t have to do it). I know everybody meant well, but all the voices ringing in my head became overwhelming.
When I was finally able to get alone and pray, I remembered one of my favorite verses of scripture, Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." I knew from this scripture I should do something I had totally ignored, "just trust God".
Whenever I say to "just keep trusting" I don’t ever mean you should stop going to the doctor and quit taking your medication. I am encouraging you to just take some time and thank God for your progress and His continuous work in your life.
Learn to "just keep trusting God" when your doctor may not know what to do to help your condition. Learn to "just keep trusting God" before you feel better and before things look better. Learn to "just keep trusting" when your medicine and treatment seem to be working miracles and when the medicine and treatment don’t appear to be working at all.
Know that God still works even when your medicine or doctor may have given up, so "Just keep trusting God" because he never gives up.
Just take a break for a while and "talk to God" through prayer. You can always "just keep trusting God" to be faithful when everything around you "falls apart."
Blessings on your journey to wellness
